Project Summary
Murex designed, permitted, and constructed a modern hazardous waste storage/treatment unit for two plating operations along a sloped facility exterior after leaks from historical infrastructure caused slope instability. Project work involved geotechnical investigation, design of retaining wall and platform system, soil characterization, permitting through City, construction of retaining wall, containment area platform, and stairway, and installation of the interior lift stations, exterior Captor tank system, and treatment infrastructure.
The plating department within this active facility could not be shut down for more than 3-4 hours, meaning that the execution of the project had to be planned with overlapping redundancy and staging of temporary wastewater containment vessels. The RCRA hazardous waste stream was required to be secure and double-contained at all times.
