Project Summary
Active dry cleaners with historical releases of tetrachloroethylene (PCE) in a very densely developed area in Hollywood, CA. The project began with an accelerated series of mobilizations to completely characterize the vertical and lateral extent of impact to soil, soil vapor, and groundwater in order to support negotiations with insurers, insured, and plaintiffs. Murex developed a comprehensive remedial approach, conducted pilot tests to refine the expected total scope, and provided a full life-cycle cost estimate to bring the Site to regulatory closure in order to provide a basis for settlement between the parties.
Monitoring well, soil vapor probe, and injection well installations involved significant planning, permitting, and traffic control through the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation. Remedial design, especially for ERD in the downgradient portion of the plume, had to account for long stretches of inaccessible real estate.
